Following my 'LOVE yarn, HATE waste' ethos, I use a combination of locally sourced carded natural fibres and my own hand spun yarns together with sustainably sourced textile waste such as sari silk ribbon and yarn and oddments of leftover commercially produced yarns to weave  Saori*-inspired textiles on a rigid heddle loom.

My textiles can be worn as shawls, scarves or wraps, they can be draped over furniture as room decor, added to chairs or beds for additional warmth, cut up and made into clothing - or simply hung on the wall and admired!

Mostly they are presented with a shawl pin and a driftwood hanger, but all are nature inspired and come with a photograph of the inspirational plant or environment.

I have woven textiles in a variety of sizes and colours, prices start at £75 for 2m x 50cm scarf - there may be cushions at £45 each too!

Please get in touch or visit my stand at a local arts and craft event to see the current range of woven textiles.

*SAORI is unique and totally different from other traditional styles of hand weaving. In traditional hand weaving, weavers highly value the regularity and cleanness of the woven cloth: if there is an irregular pattern or thread, it is considered a “mistake” or “flaw”.

In SAORI, on the other hand, the importance is on free expression, because hand weaving is different from machine weaving.

Saori is an art form in which the weaver expresses their true self in weaving: there are no mistakes, no patterns to follow, weavers just weave what they want to with complete freedom and creativity.
